2024 LEGO Advent Calendars, Day 2 [Feature]

Cyber Monday? Who has time for that?! It’s day 2 of the annual TBB Advent Calendar-a-palooza and we have six doors to open today! Come on folks, you can save money on your online shopping later.

As ever, our intrepid TBB team is on hand with witty comments, insightful observations, and bad jokes for each day’s builds. And of course, you can add your own thoughts in the comments section each day! So without further ado, let’s crack open the build for day 2…

In the Friends calendar, we have a festive piano and stool. Disney offers up the first tree of the season – a palm tree! – along with a little beach and a printed Heart of Te Fiti.

For Scale, here’s Moana enjoying her patch of island life. Paisley, the musically-inclined Friend, can work on those piano skills (if only her arms could move to reach the keys!)

In the City calendar we have a micro-build of a drill. Harry Potter offers some sort of caterpillar gargoyle monstrosity.

Seeing as our first City kid has a construction themed sweater, this seems like the perfect gift for him. And I guess that HP build is a griffon? Maybe if Harry takes of his glasses and stands back far enough, it might look like one.

Star Wars gets festive with Princess Leia in a Hoth-themed sweater. She comes with a pink mug to hold warm blue milk, or whatever else passes for a holiday beverage on Alderaan.  Spider-man, meanwhile, offers a pile of assorted webbing to  affix to Spidey’s shooter. Her worshipfulness is not impressed.

I covet Leia’s sweater, but let’s see what everyone else has to say.

Theo: 2-for-2 on cool Christmas sweaters! The baby grand is nice enough. Bit of a damp squib for the rest though… at least we’re getting the day of web stuff out the way early, I guess.

Daniel: Star Wars sweater is the highlight for me… I mean AT-ATs and a snowspeeder? What’s not to love. The piano is a strong second.

Kyle: Why would they make it a statue? It’s supposed to be a Gryffin door!  The island wins it for me today.

Bre: Yikes. The griffin sucks. But the printed tile from yesterday is nice. Always a fan of sweater prints. And nobody has commented on the City drill thingy, but I kind of like it.

Seems like we’re all in agreement about the awesome sweater (thank you, Kyle, for sparing us the minifig humbugs today!). No love for Harry today. Minus ten points to Gryffindor! 

If you’re lucky enough to have all six sets, we’re already getting a pretty playful mix. Everyone seems to be enjoying Leia’s rendition of the classic Jizz carol “Jedi Rockin’ Around the Life Day Tree.”
