November’s Buildapalooza was absolutely bustling and we have no time to waste with wordy intros. Let’s just dive in with this month’s installment of the Break Down and get to all those prizes, builds, the parts draft and news. Buckle up, let’s go!
Real quick for those new about these parts, Buildapalooza is PerthLUG’s regular catch-up where on the second Monday of the month we bring along a Lego set and just build and socialise. We’re a friendly bunch from all walks of life. It’s just $5 for non-members to help keep the lights on. More details at the bottom of the page.
Now let’s jump into those prizes because there was a BUNCH! To shake things up a bit, let’s start off with our extra special bonus draw. Those who turned up Monday night (thanks again all you wonderful fine folk!) had the opportunity to pony up a fiver for their shot at winning the epic new Botanical Garden 21353. With tickets limited, what a great chance to snag this 3792 piece beauty! Enough preamble. There can only be one winner of course and our hearty congratulations go to Cindy M who took this wonder home. Well done!
And now to the Members’ Draw where once again we had another SIX prizes to hand out. From gorgeous Creator 3-in-1 sets to Lego merch and perfectly timed advent calendars, there was something for everyone.
Members’ Draw
Forest Animals: Red Fox 31154 (Kindly donated by The LEGO Group): Mike D
Wild Safari Animals 31150 (Kindly donated by The LEGO Group): Raymond B
LEGO Mug (Kindly donated by The LEGO Group): Catherine M
Star Wars Advent Calendar 75395: Murray D
Harry Potter Advent Calendar 76438: Caitlin H
City Advent Calendar 60436: Robin G
Mike was the only winning member present on the night to accept his prize – what’s up with that? Member’s privileges! Also, Mike has won two in a row now – what’s up with that!! (congrats lucky man). Back to those member privileges, as one of the little perks that go along with your custom printed brick badge and early invites here and there, perhaps the biggest bonus is having your name thrown in the members’ draw each month whether you can make it in person or not. This month, five of our lucky members couldn’t make it yet still took home amazing prizes!
Aaaand, it just happens to be that time of the year when you can sign up as a new or existing member yourself. At just $50 for new members and $45 for renewals, you’re not just grabbing yourself a great deal but supporting your Perth Lego Users Group to continue to offer frequent events and awesome prizes. A huge thank you to those who signed up or renewed this month and if you want in on all the action, come along next month where you can sign up and join the fam.
Back into the action! The Parts Draft crew were back at it again sorting out the Wild Safari Animals 3in1 set. I could’ve done with some of those tan parts for my collection! But it’s not about me, im just here to report… So what’s this Parts Draft thingo about? It’s a great way to bring along one set and take home bulk-sorted parts for your collection. If you want to know more or learn how to get involved yourself just follow us over at the PerthLUG Facebook page.
Now for a sample of what people were building on the night because amongst the prizes and parts draft and chats, some Lego occasionally does get built at these alleged build nights. I have the evidence right here!
First off, its a tale of two dragons with Krista’s massive and fearsome Ninjago Source Dragon of Motion leaving quite the impression. But not to be outdone, Nat’s little 3in1 Dragon is hard to compete with on cuteness, let’s be real.
Moving on as we must, Helen’s fleet of VW campers is expanding…and quickly. How many more colours are there left?!
And these botanicals are proving populare aren’t they? Lisa’s Chrysanthemum and Amy’s Cherry Blossom are marvelous together, shame they have to be separated I think. I can take both of them off your hands…
It’s not all building though, here I caught a wild Tim sorting through a stash of parts that weren’t going to just sort themselves. Can relate.
Our annual Brickmas Appeal for CanTeen WA is in full swing and we couldn’t be more proud of our members’ generosity already. Look what came in the door just this Monday! Simply incredible! If you’d like to contribute, small sets are great for kids to build in bed, sets just need to be new in box is all. We’ll be accepting donations of all kinds til next month and you can also bring them along to Minifigapalooza. Thank y’all so much.
But you heard right, Minifigapalooza is back again on Sunday 8th of December 2-5pm at our regular setting, John McGrath Hall and Pavilion. Not too long to wait now. Minifigapalooza is WA’s biggest Lego buy & sell event and it’s where you can snap up a bargain or hunt down that last piece for your collection. Minifigs, sets and eveything LEGO, just in time for Christmas: Perfect. These are always so much fun so mark your calendars and prepare thy wallets.
And that’s about all we have time for in this issue of the Build Night Break Down. We did it! If you’d like to come to one of our build nights, Buildapalooza is back again next month as usual on the second Monday. That’s the 9th of December at our normal time and place; 7-11pm at John McGrath Pavilion off Hensman St, South Perth. Everyone is welcome!
