The year is… sometime in the future. The passage of time has long been forgotten by the dust. And if you don’t have your wits about you, you, too, will be forgotten. This is the dystopian vision that Polish LEGO builder Marcin (bigfig2000) brings us. But for all its post-apocalyptic caution, it’s impossible to take your eyes off this huge diorama! It depicts what looks to be an outpost in the desert, an oasis of sorts among the chaos. That isn’t to say there’s no disorder here, though! It’s absolutely jam-packed with details, characters and little stories forming.

WT01 front

Let’s start at the front, where this masked amputee catches the eye. Whether he’s a resident of this base or simply passing through, it’s clear the apocalypse has not been kind to him. (If the apocalypse is capable of kindness, that is.)

The rout of civilisation clearly hasn’t dampened some people’s entrepreneurial spirit though. A shipping container has been re-purposed into a junk shop, seemingly with a repair service tacked on. Just as well – there’s an awful lot of junk hanging around! It all adds to the atmosphere of the place.

WT104 Junk

But while there’s junk in abundance, sustenance might be a bit harder to come by in dystopia. Case in point: this butcher’s stall, selling everything from snakes to scorpions. The butcher in question has his back to us, preparing his latest find. You can go to bigfig2000’s photostream to find out what it is, but it’s not for the faint of heart…or dog lovers.

If you don’t like the conditions, you can always ask to speak to the manager. It’s great to see the Hagrid body re-used like this – making the commander look suitably imposing. He probably doesn’t take very kindly to complaints, mind… Still, at least you will have gone up some really nice brick-built stairs!
