The year is 2020, the world is in lockdown. I am living alone and seperated from family and friends by a state border that up till now had been almost meaningless. Craving something more positive to replace my evening sessions of doom scrolling and refreshing covid stats pages, I see news that the next Animal Crossing game is coming out. That could work, I think as I look up if buying a video game and console counts as an “essential” reason to leave the house.
