For a long time, I haven’t paid much attention to the Super Mario theme. Not that I don’t like it; the sets look great with a lot of bright colors, clever builds and playability. But aside from playing some games about 30 years ago, as well as annoying store employees while playing on a Nintendo 64 display model (remember the amazing new concept of 3D graphics in Nintendo games!), I have little knowledge of the Mario Universe. In addition, most sets seem to be an expansion on the starter sets, featuring stages for the electronic Mario, Princess Peach and Luigi to run through, something that I personally am not really attracted to. Exceptions are sets like 71426-1 Piranha Plant and 71411-1 The Mighty Bowser that are meant for display.
