LEGO have just revealed details of Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City. When I heard that LEGO was doing a Gotham City this is not what I expected and I know it is going to be divisive. Personally, I love the look of it.
This set is like a skyline set on steroids, with the animated Gotham City recreated using over 4000 pieces (4210 to be exact).
Batman: The Animated Series had such an iconic visual identity and I think the designers have done an amazing job of capturing that aesthetic here.
Included in the set is also a display of 4 minifigures; Batman, Catwoman, Joker and Harley Quinn. All of the minifigures look great and I love the display with the gargoyles.
The bad news is that this set is going to cost $499.99 in Australia. You have to be really into the design to justify spending that much. Gotham is deliberately dark and gritty and that isn’t going to work with some other décor.
You can get this set from April 1st for Insiders, and everybody else can get it from April 4th.
