Put Those Bricks Together And Shout, “Dracarys!”
Recently, Costco started stocking the newest LEGO® set for 2024, Set 80112 Auspicious Dragon. With 1,171 pieces at $89.99, it is still a smidge too expensive but is an impressive build. While this model brings awesome Chinese culture to retail shelves, let’s review another four LEGO® dragon sets perfect for all our fantasy brick fans.
LEGO® NINJAGO Arin’s Rising Dragon Strike 71803
Let’s be real, this set is straight-up adorable. This set features Riyu, a small yellow-golden dragon that you can place Arin on top of while he faces a Wolf Mask Warrior armed with a khopesh. The khopesh is that cool, sickle-shaped sword from Bronze-Age Egypt you have seen in TV and movies like The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. I would by the set just for that weapon LEGO® accessory. The dragon has some unique ABS-molded pieces just for the set. At an affordable $9.99 on Amazon, this 27-piece set is worth the 5-minute build as it does come with two minifigures after all. LEGO® has been on a bit of an overpricing kick, and with this set, you can avoid the recent markup trends.
LEGO® NINJAGO Jay’s Thunder Dragon EVO 71760
Jay’s Thunder Dragon, Wisp, goes through his “EVO” or “evolve,” which is a new function added by the LEGO® designers to allow you to enhance your build with additional sets and parts. This dragon is definitely more of a base model at only $19.99 on Amazon. However, you do get Jay, Wisp, a Viper Flyer, and 140 pieces. In 30 minutes, you set yourself up with a detailed elemental dragon ready to join your shelves and your Game of Thrones collection. The NINJAGO LEGO® set has been around for quite some time, so it has amassed 1,318 reviews for a total of 4.8 stars!
LEGO Creator 3 in 1 Red Dragon 31145
I saved the best for last. Set 76177 was the progenitor to the Auspicious Dragon as this set contains the “Great Protector” from The Marvel Hit: Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. This Chinese-mythical beast resides beneath Ta Lo’s Great Lake and assists Shang-Chi in his final fight against the “Dweller-in-Darkness.” With 400 pieces, the “Great Protector” looks like a white and blue Auspicious Dragon. The minifigures are awesome as well: Shang-Chi, Xialing, Wenwu and Death Dealer join this set’s lineup. While it retails at $31.99 MSRP on LEGO®’s website, it is currently on sale on Amazon for a slight markup at $33.90. Do I recommend it? Absolutely. It’s a well-articulated build, a set with great investment potential, and exclusive minifigures. With 1,002 ratings and 4.8 stars, it is one of the highest-rated Marvel LEGO® sets on Amazon right now.
Not All LEGO® Dragons Are Equal
I tried to give you a multitude of dragon builds that could light a fire under your hands for a great building session. Whether it is adorable, fierce, or articulated, there is a LEGO® dragon ready to be created, played with, or displayed in your home. Cheers and happy building!
