Let’s Do A Piece-Count, Countdown Of The Top 5 Biggest Lord of the Rings LEGO® Sets
Number 5: LEGO® LOTR Battle At The Black Gate 79007
The Battle at the Black Gate is an outrageously-expensive LOTR LEGO® set with 656 pieces. For this $400.00+ retired, and collectible LEGO® set, you get Gandalf the White, Aragorn in his Gondorian garb, two Mordor orcs, and the coveted Mouth of Sauron Minifig. Also, you get an extremely rare eagle minifig from the movies. For the price, and piece count, it was a steal at the time, but is a smidge lackluster now. It is available on Amazon if you have the ability to sell Silmarils to get the funds for it.
Number 4: LEGO® LOTR The Mines of Moria 9473
Arguably one of the most awesome scenes from The Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of The Ring, we bring you the battle in Balin’s tomb against the cave troll. This wicked expensive LOTR set has seven total minifigures: The Big Fig Cave Troll, Pippin, Gimli, Legolas, Boromir, and two Moria Goblins. This set is approximately $399.99 on Amazon and it makes sense: you have some of the rarest LOTR minifigs from the theme in this big LOTR LEGO® set. At 776 pieces, it is not the biggest set, but it is surely an excellent and fun build.
Number 3: LEGO LOTR The Battle of Helm’s Deep 9474
Coming in at number 3 with 1,368 pieces is the unforgettable Battle of Helm’s Deep set from the LOTR line. It is approximately $628.00 and for that price you get eight incredible LOTR LEGO® minifigs. For the price of this set, you get Gimli, Haldir, King Theoden, Aragorn, and three (yes, 3) Uruk-hai LOTR minifigs. Not to mention this modular set can be combined with the LEGO® Uruk Hai Army 9471 to extend the great wall of Helm’s Deep.
Number 2: LEGO® LOTR The Tower of Orthanc 10237
Now, we start to make some exponential jumps in piece count. The Tower of Orthanc has 2,359 pieces and for approximately $929.00 off Amazon, you can build the massive tower where Saruman commanded his 10,000 strong Uruk-hai army. While absurd in piece count, this set comes with just 5 LOTR minifigures: Saruman, Grima Wormtongue, Gandalf The Gray, An Uruk-hai warrior, and a Mordor Orc – while not as many as the others, all of these are insanely collectible. Plus, you get a tall Treebeard LEGO® mech build out of this set.
Number 1: LEGO® LOTR Icons Rivendell 10316
You can enjoy my summary of the biggest Lord of The Rings LEGO® set for LEGO® Lord of The Rings Rivendell 1036 here.
This set is actually one of the cheapest of them all because it is still retail! For $499.99 on Amazon, you get 6,167 pieces of an epic LOTR icons build. Plus, thrown into this stunning visual display are 15 LEGO® LOTR minifigures. Gandalf the Grey, Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, Merriadoc “Merry” Brandybuck, Peregrin “Pippin” Took, Legolas, Gimli, Boromir, and Aragorn are part of the lineup. Additionally, LEGO® minifigures part of the cast are in this set: Elrond, Arwen, Bilbo Baggins, as well as some other elves and the dwarf, Gloin. This is a must-have, and honestly, you should probably get this one today!
